Phang Nga Bay in the Gulf of Thailand is filled with majestic limestone islands jutting out of a beautiful turquoise sea. Many of the islands have hollow centres, eroded out through millennia by wind and rain and accessible via only sea caves.
One of the most popular ways to experience the beauty and mystery of the sea caves (or hongs as they area known), is to paddle through them on a sea-canoe.

In this image we visited Hong Island, which has one of the best cave systems to explore. After an hours speedboat ride from Phuket, we transferred to a three-man canoe and our guide paddled us around the caves for an hour or so (how lazy is that!).

If you look closely at the bottom right hand side of the island, you can see the entrance to one of the caves, just big enough for our canoe to fit through.

Once inside the tunnel stalactites hand from the cave ceilings before you exist into the secluded lagoon in the middle of the island. Photos just don’t do this experience justice, it’s just something you have experience to really appreciate the regions beauty.
The sea-canoeing experience was awesome.

If you ever get to Thailand don’t pass up the opportunity to do it, you won’t regret it. It really is paradise.

thanks for looking.

Hi Chris,
WOW! that is an impressive shot! I really like the composition and framig of it. Beautiful colors and good detail. You really get a perfect sense of scale with the subject in the sea canoes. I am envious. That looks like a dream trip for me!

Hi Chris,
Quite impressive rock. You managed well a difficult vertical composition. Good to see the canoes to have an idea of the scale.

I'll probably never get to Thialand to see this breathtaking view, so it's so nice you've posted it. The canoes really give the rock some scale showing how impressive it really is. Your story to go along with the photo makes me feel as if I really did ride along in your canoe, wonderful photo and story, excellent work.

Great capture Chris, the inclusion of people here is important as it gives the measure of scale. Well done.

Hi Cris,

Hi Chris

A magnificent shot. What an amazing sight. Thanks.

Luv this shot Chris, what an awesome piece of rock :) The canoers give great scale to this grand precipice..Very nice,
Thank You!

Wow, what amazing scenery! Beautiful colours and textures in the rocks, lovely blue sky and sea, and a focal point at the bottom. I think I would have added just a tiny bit more sea in the foreground.
