another wish i had taken it shot...but i prefer the animals in the wild...
i have a hippo one taken in mara..later
but this is a great angle as well nearly suggesting a croc..but it does look sad and fed up..wonder if it ever got to lash out or take an underwater walk miles down a river..

VERY ABSTRACT! BUT I LOVE IT!

Hi Gloria! It's normally the kind of trick that poeple do in PP. But here is very clear that you made it in camera.
Focus and sharpness are great. But best of all, I may be wrong but it looks to me that you took time to choose a POV so the Hippo would be located where there is no trees reflexion, giving a very good clarity of the image.

This is a very interesting picture, Gloria. The POV is rather original, and the reflections of the tree branches AND the calmness of the water make it look as though the hippo is floating in the air, instead of in the water. Very cool perspective and composition. The focus and exposure are excellent, Well done and TFS. : )

Hi Gloria, Excellent photo. You took good care of POV, DOF, Focus and lighting. I agree with you with regards to cages and zoos. I prefer the freedom of the wild even if it is in a national park. I am blessed to be staying in a game park with all of the big five roam free including hippo and crocks. TFS and keep on shootin!!

I simply cannot understand how I missed this photo back in 2005 but I did somehow.
This is a fantastic capture. The pov is excellent - very unusual and interesting. Great dof with very good sharpness and details. The composition is a dream and a very good example of what makes a photo interesting. The reflection of the trees makes a perfect framing of the Hippo and the diagonal line made by the Hippo just makes it even better.
A very interesting and pleasant picture to look at. I am very glad that I saw it on TN’s opening page today.
