This is a ad for the Zebra dove cooing contest held every year in southern Thailand

(4 - 6 March, 2005 : Yala)
Thais have long believed that doves are creatures that bring good luck to those who rear them. They are also regarded as symbols of purity and peace. Those with qualities specified by ancient texts are believed to bestow great wealth and honour upon the owner.

Given this belief, in former times, the rearing of zebra doves was a popular past-time among Thais. The practice was widespread throughout the lower southern provinces and neighbouring countries. A local dove-cooing contest has now evolved into an international event with participants from the neighbouring countries.

The ASEAN Barred Ground Dove festival attracts dove-lovers from all over Thailand as well as from the neighbouring countries of Thailand, particularly from Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Brunei, to the southern city of Yala. The major highlight is a dove-cooing competition involving more than 1,400 participants. Young prize doves and other local products are available on sale. Various sports contests are also held.

Venue: Suan Khwan Muang Park and Rong Phithi Chang Phueak (White Elephant Ceremony) Pavilion Amphoe Muang, Yala, thailand

Hi Anoop

Only 2 hours till Christmas day here in New Zealand. No critique this time, just to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a safe New Year.

Lovely shot Anoop.
I like the highlight spot on the eye of dove.
The furs are having good details. The shot is well exposed and have great contrast.
Thanks

Anoop, this is a very nice image.

I like composition and pov. Great bg too.

Maybe, I'd try to add some sharpness, but that't just an opinion.

Hi Anoop
No, stripes are actually flattening, that is why I wear them too. - lol
Nice pigeon. Som e comments, if I may?
The SS was just NOT fast enough to arrest the bill movement, you shuold try at least 1/300 here, prefably 1/500. Try a bit of tigher cropping, and flip the frame horizontal, so that the subject looks to the lrft instead of the right.

Catchy title. Guess birds have a good reason to stay light.
Showing half a bird is not always a good idea but this composition works, especiall with the good notes.
