[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The butterfly fauna of Phukets forests were an incredible sight. Unfortunately, my limited time there, and the difficulties of shooting in the rainforest, meant that I could only capture a few species in the wild.

Fortunately, Phuket has quite a decent butterfly farm that also doubles as a plant nursery. Naturally, the morning I decided to go, it rained. But I still managed to get a few species.

I’m fairly sure that this one is a Blue Glassy Tiger (Ideopsis vulgaris macrina), but I’m happy to be corrected if its wrong. This species has a wingspan of about 7–8cm. It is distributed through south Myanmar, Thailand and Indochina to the Lesser Sunda Islands. I saw a few of these on the eastern side of the island near the Bang Pae waterfall.

Thanks for looking.

Nice composition of the black/blue butterfly against the soft colours of these flowers. I like it.

Hi cris, excellent work, with great details. Everything is so crisp. Excellent work. TFS Kyle

Hi Chris,
Very nice butterfly and well captured too. Dark colour contrasts well with the lively pink of the flowers and the blurred BG - Beautiful. Black colour hides the details but that's not your fault.
Well done
Mark

What a wonderful insect that Blue Glassy Tiger is. Looks like the Ideopsis Juventa but this one has white spots instead of blue spots.
You have captured it in all his splendor. Congratulations, Chris.
