[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The largest town on Phuket Island is Phuket town, an interesting mix of eastern and 19th century western architecture. Rang Hill is one of two hills that dominate the northern end of town. The hill contains some remnant jungle mixed with semi-formal picnic grounds, a fitness park and restaurants. I had gone there specifically to see the incredible gliding lizards (Draco sp.) and was almost instantly successful, with extended views of a courting pair literally gliding from tree to tree, amazing but no pictures good enough to post unfortunately.

Nevertheless the hill was alive with birds and butterflies, almost to the point of not knowing which way to look in case I missed something. A fascinating place to visit.

This is the impressively large Palm King (Amathusia phidippus) with a wingspan of 12cm. They are distributed through Indochina, Malay peninsula and Indonesia preferring areas where there are lots of palms. An indeed I was lucky enough to find this one perched motionless on a palm pretending to be a leaf.

Very good picture of this butterfly. I like the composition and the pov. I did a little workshop where I add more sharpness to see more details on the butterfly. I hope you'll like it.

It's very sharp and detailed, great light, DOF, and color..Interesting POV from slightly behind, and it works very well with the added symmetry of the palm leaves..Palm King, Palm leaves..Works for me :)
