I don't know anything about ants so I can't tell you much. This black ant was sitting (standing?) on a cork from a bottle of wine. It was not moving much (drunk perhaps?) so I manage to get a decent close-up photo of its face.

Amazing macro of this ant. Great, sharp details on the insect's head, especially its texture and those awesome mandibles!
