Hello Jitti,
Excellent capture of this Ypthima satyrid. This is sharp and well composed with fine contrasting neutral bg.
I may well be similis, otherwise it could be baldus, the Common Five-ring. I guess it depends on where you took this shot. If it was east of the Malayan Peninsula then similis is likely.

Whatever the species, you have shot it very well, JC. What a perfect match between the colour of the butterfly and the plant it is sitting on!
The wings with those fine designs and eye-spots on them look very attractive. The focus is spot on and the composition beautiful.

that's a noble one, I love the design of the wings and you captured this beauty with perfect sharpness. I'm a little jelous, you are living in a real paradise ...
In Germany it's grey and cold. Today we had a few hours sunshine with temperature max. 10 Degree Celsius. I wanted to spend my holidays in Thailand this year, but I only have time in September, I think it's rainy in Thailand?!? - or in November - than it's to expensive for me, about 500 - 700 Dollar more for one Person than in the other months!!!
So I have to wait until April 2008 :-( I'm sad, such a long time!!!

Hello Jitti,
there are already so many positive comments - what can I add? I will add the picture to my THEME on Satyridae Worldwide. I think it will constitute one of the favourite pictures there.
Although the details of the wing pattern are very clear, it is not easy to identify the species. There are several possibilities - but I can't decide for one with 100% reliability. It can be similis or baldus, as 'Argus' suggested, but sobrina is also possible. Perhaps, we have to leave it open.
