Inside one of the large caves within a karst limestone pinnacle in Halong Bay. These natural features form over milions of years with the steady dripping of calcium carbonate bearing water. This cavern is more than 50 metres high.
A stalactite (Greek stalaktites, (Σταλακτίτης), from the word for "drip" and meaning "that which drips") is a type of speleothem (secondary mineral) that hangs from the ceiling or wall of limestone caves. It is sometimes referred to as dripstone. Wikipedia. |
