The Grass hopper, if somebody identifies exactly which one, I will be happy.
Most of the times these grasshoppers are hard to find because they usualy well camouflaged. What happened here was that as I was walking in this grass field, this fellow jumped and landed here hanging dearly to the grass stalk. I immediately set my tripod just in front of him and he was little scared to make any movements (take notice of end of its abdomen). Humour in nature photography very rare and look at his expression (if you can), very amusing. I composed using the dry grass (brownish) as the background, to make the grasshopper standout. notice the small red bulb like projections seen from the side of the grasshopper, no idea why and for what purpose they have. having taken few frames I left the place leaving him in peace. |

Hello Nagaraj,
Grasshhoppers have it difficult on TN. I think that they are very interesting insects and also good subjects for shots. I like your picture a lot. Unconventional point of view, decentred presentation, good light, beautiful earth-tones.
A magnificent natural picture!
Best regards
Anne
