[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hi all,
Today was a dream come true, I had been watching this beautiful butterfly for over 10 years and have failed to capture it on a photograph properly before .But today I was lucky ;-) This usually active butterfly gave us some chance to shoot it. The lighting was bit low and I did not want to sacrifice on my f-8 so i used a tripod to get this picture.
The Blue Mormon ( Papilio polymnestor) is a large swallowtail butterfly found in South India and Sri Lanka.
Endemic to India and Sri Lanka. In India it is restricted to the Western Ghats, Southern India and the East coast. It has been recorded as far north as Gujarat. It is often seen even in the gardens and sometimes in the middle of busy traffic in large cities such as Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore.

Outstanding shot of this great looking butterfly and you must be happy to capture it so beautifully. My search is still on. Lovely colours and details and the image is tack sharp. You were, indeed, lucky to have come across this elegant butterfly and to shoot it with its wings spread wide open, Goutham.
What is more providential is the fact that the specimen is fresh and unblemished.
With the camera mounted on a tripod to stick to your preferred aperture value, you have shot a mastepiece.
Superb details and colours and ideal diagonal placement of the subject within the frame.

Very nice composition with butterfly as the main object. I like sharpness and contrast. Parts of insect's wings are a little too white, but in general it is very nice photo :)

Despite it's active mood you could have a chance to set up a tripod, yes you're very lucky :) Your close up is amazing, bright and relaxing. If a personality analysis of the butterfly is required, I can say it looks very highborn.. Very well done..
