[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This hummingbird hawk moth has a "straw" long enough to draw nectar from the deepest of flower tubes. This lovely insect was feasting on numerous tabernaemontana flowers that evening in a most relaxed fashion, quite oblivious of my camera and me! Since I was on the wrong side of light, I used flash. It was evening and the sun was getting lower but the sky was blue and I loved that background the way it came.

Its zoological name - Macroglossum pyrrhosticta. This has a tinge of a white band on its behind at where the 'fluffy tail' has emerged. It is a lovely sight to see it hover over flower and from a great distance, the way it uncoils and puts its 'straw accurately into the flower! Hope you like it. Just some cropping done to this. Took it from a distance of about 4 feet.

I too tried to shoot this Moth recently but found it extremely difficult. Firstly, it does not hover still even for a split second and secondly, you have to depend on the point of view forced on you as it flits from one place to the other.
I tried at higher shutter speed to make its wings visible but ended up with very dark images at f stop:5 and shutter speed 1/640.
You have used the fill flash successfully but with a bit of over-exposure.
All the same, it isa valiant effort.
Thanks for sharing and all the best.
