Interestingly enough in the North of Thailand, some miles outside the city of Chiang Mai, not too far from the infamous Golden Triangle, we were surprised to find a pineapple growing like this in the wild - right on the side of a highway!
Our guide informed us that there were pineapple groves about a mile away but this one seemed to have taken a life of its own.... This plant was only surviving here by the grace of being located near a busy intersection - where no car could really stop for a poacher to pounce!
Interesting how the plant it grows on has very fleshy leaves, really almost like a cactus. In fact I wonder whether the pineapple plant would officially qualify as a cactus? Any experts out there?
Photgraphically speaking, this is a non-flash picture, taken with a Pentax autofocus camera, with the 105mm zoom all the way out, through a stationary bus window from over 10 years ago, scanned into a jpeg. No tripod. No filter. No frills. One pineapple. |
