[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Good Evening All

Glad to be back on TN. I am posting another shot of the unknown bloom taken while in the Bahamas. This time it is being visited by a little friend. I received a note from Zeno, and sure enough, he has a picture just like this taken in Cuba. This is my first attempt at blurring background and adding a frame. Critiques welcome!!
**************************

Trip north to the Chesapeake went well. No major boat problems and weather was very cooperative for the most part. Stopped overnight in several port towns and found "Tangier Island" to be the most interesting. I'm afraid the pictures are all too full of structure for TN. But I recommend this place as it is so unusual. I have an Osprey shot that I REALLY like, if I can clean it up. Being the Greenie that I am, I will probably need your help.
I am awed and humbled by the beautiful images posted lately. Please, please feel free to critique any and all of my posts. I have broad shoulders and I great desire to learn. :-]

Hi Kathy,
Superb sharpness of the flower, and great blurry BG. Well composed. Frame color is too strong [at least for my eyes].

Hi Kathy,
That is a very beautiful flower. Vibrant colors look great. The blue sky backround really adds to this shot. Detail is nice and sharp in the bloom. My only suggestion would have been to try and find an angle that had no branches. They distract our eyes away from the main subject. This may not have been possible though. The other option would be to clone them out in post processing. With the small point and shoot cameras it is very difficult to control the DOF and throw them out of focus. Still a very nice shot!

very nice picture, though I don't like the pink frame. The flower looks like Pseudobombax, belonging to the Bombacaceae (Baobab Tree family). Ori

Glad to see you back Kathy,
The details are nice, clear and sharp.
Good colours and lighting. DOF is spot on and the POV is good.
Well composed, well framed (although a bit pink for my taste) and good notes.
Thanks for posting, have a great week.

Hi Kathy

Nice shot of a really unusual flower, the pink stands out really nice against the blue sky BG.

Hi Kathy,
What spectacular colours! I really like the POV too, with the 'eyes' under the pink wig this reminds me of Number 5 from Short Circuit :-) Back to reality, it's a lovely shot, the POV is excellent, framing the pink flower against the blue sky, DOF is good (very shallow for f/11) and highlights the subject well. The pink frame is a bold statement I think but it's perfect here. A lovely shot, great work.
Regards,
Adrian

Hi Kathy,
What a strange creation... But beautiful!
The shining red is really eye-catching... Great macro quality!
If I were you I'd reconsider the red frame as it steals some attention that rightfully should go to the image...
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hi Kathy,
OK - My wife says.. It looks like a wild retro haircut :) Wild color too, it really jumps out at you, with the help of that great blue BG. The bee is a nice bonus, and you've done a nice job with the border as well.
Well done and TFS!
