This is a Goblet Fungi (Cookeina sulcipes) a beautiful species that we found several times in both Belize (Guancaste NP) and Costa Rica (La Selva Verde and Carara NP).
They are a medium-large fungi with the top of the goblet having a diameter of 60mm and the stem is around 80mm. They are always found in deep shade through the lowland tropical rainforests of the globe and have been recorded by others from Brazil, Cameroon, Costa Rica, Ecuador, French Guiana, Ghana, Indonesia, Malaysia, Niger, Nigeria, Papua New Guinea, Sierra Leone, Solomon Islands, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago, Vanuatu and Venezuela.

I have shot and posted this species before, from the forests of southern Thailand in 2006 (see here). Indeed I personally prefer the colour on the Thai shot, but I thought it’s such a beautiful and unusually shaped fungi, that you wouldn’t mind looking at this slightly transluscent Central American version.

Kingdom: Fungi
Subkingdom: Dikarya
Phylum: Ascomycota - Sac Fungi
Subphylum: Pezizomycotina
Class: Ascomycetes
Order: Pezizales
Family: Sarcoscyphaceae
Genus: Cookeina
Scientific name: Cookeina sulcipes

Shot using a mini-tripod. Noise reduction in NeatImage.

Hello my friend.
Two opposite feelings this time, pleasure to watch your beautiful and interesting capture, and envy for having found such a specie.
It looks like the father of our Sarcoscipha coccinea :)
Best regards, Felipe.

Hello Chris, what an amazing fungi, I've never seen anything like it. It looks like a plastic funnel but yet nature has a wonderful way of producing interesting species. The focus and dof is just perfect. Good light and exposure with nice dark contrast in the bg. Well composed, good shot. tfs Rgds Necip

Hi Chris,
Great tropical fungus shot about a very interesting specie. Colors are OK for me, as well as exposure and compo. Simple yet nice pic, except for that "something" in the right side bg.
Tfs, cheers, László
