[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Thoas (or King’s) Swallowtail (Heraclides thoas) was first described by Linnaeus in 1771. Its distribution is in mid elevation broadleaf forests from the extreme south of the USA through Central America and most of South America except Chile. It has a wingspan of 14 cm.

I found this one mud-puddling on the roadside along Mountain Pine Ridge in western Belize.
The caterpillars resemble bird droppings and rest exposed on leaves. The mainly feed on citrus species.

Hello Chris,
Nice, well composed photo. I wonder what is the place where the butterfly is sitting on? Rock, sand?
