Hi Richard

Nice POV and very good colours and detail.

James

Nice capture and framing. Color is outstanding and the black background helps your subject stand out more.

I see that you shot 'aperture priority' at f/3.2 and shutter 1/800. That made your depth of field(DOF) shallower than it needed to be to take this picture. You could have shot at f/6 or so at 1/200th to get the same exposure but with greater DOF with a hand held shot. Then you would have got better sharpness on the flowers and some places on the wings.

Hello Richard,
This is a very nice open-wing capture of a species of Skipper, Achlyodes pallida, sometimes known as the Pale Sicklewing.

You have achieved pretty good sharpness and fine colours and lighting. The composition with the flower and leaves is excellent.
Well done and thanks for sharing this one,
Ivan

Ciao Richard,
non conosco la fauna dell'America Centrale, ma la tua farfalla mi ricorda un Hesperiidae.
Complimenti per la bella inquadratura e per la nitidezza dell'immagine.
Anche i colori sono naturali.
Grazie,
Marcello

Hello Richard,
Very clear and sharp rendition of this skipper with excellent colours and composition. The lighting is very good, being hard on the whole of the insect, the result of either a lot of patience or a lot of luck! Very nice, thanks.
Alan

Hello Richard

I must state that this butterfly seems to fit this shot perfectly.
The composition is super.I really like how it is nestled in the foliage, perhaps it is the way the foliage emulates a butterfly on the left side.
The lighting is well done and the colours are rich and vibrant.
The patterns and textures of the wings show well.
Your POV is well chosen.
Great job.

Hi Richard.
I like your selection of the pictured scene and framing. They are so impressive. Perfectly illuminated and detailed leaves create a very nice BG for this beautiful butterfly. Last one is reproduced with great skill. Colour reproduction, tiny details, fine lights and impressive shadows are amazing. Bravo and TFS.
Alexei.
