[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Buff-throated Saltator (Saltator maximus) is a relative of the grosbeaks and buntings. It is found through much of Coasta Rica up to 1,800m in rainforest edges, gardens and woodland. Elsewhere its is found from Mexico to Brazil.
This one was found in the gardens at Arenal Lodge on another dull rainy day.

Hello Chris,
This is an excellent capture of yet another bird I have not seen. The colors on this species is amazing and your fine camera work gives us an excellent view and fine details, thanks Chris.

Hi Chris,
A great image!
I like a lot the intense and well saturated colours of th background, the green gradations works pretty well.
You've got and excellent pose with very good details on all the bird.
Congratulations and thanks for share it.
My best regards,
JM

Hallo Chris
I especially fancy the olive coloured feathers of this Buff-throated Saltator. The other plumage is also eye-catching but the olive is really special. It is also a first for me. As I was saying to Peter van Zoest in a comment on one of his photos, just as start to think you have seen about all of them specie appears on the gallery. I like the shiny part on the bird’s head, just above the eye, and the way it is looking slightly upwards. A well presented, well focused image with clear details and good point of view. Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards
Anna

Hello Chris,
Superb capture of a Buff-throated Saltator. You made good use of the limited lighting to produce a sharp image with fine colours. Fine composition and POV against an OOF natural BG.
Thanks for sharing this one,
Ivan

Brilliant capture of this exotic species of birds from South America, Chris.
The focus is spot on, the colours are very pleasant and the BG does wonders to enhance the appeal of the subject.
TFS and regards.
