[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
On the west coast of Costa Rica we finally found some sunshine, a welcome relief after 8 days of rain and overcast conditions. We also found our first wetland of any note in Parlo Verde National Park.
This is a Purple Gallinule (Porphyrio martinica), a relatively large waterhen that is widely distributed through the wetlands of southern North America, Central America and much of South America. They are usually found in wetlands with tall emergent waterplants where they feed on frogs, large invertebrates and even waterplants.

With those witch fingers, it looks strange on that twig! Although compo is a little mixed- which i liked- a good capture, i think. All the best.

Hi Chris,

This is a very unusual pose of this magnificent bird. The feet of this bird are incredible. Its a pity the shot is not completely sharp. For the rest:superb.

regards,
Zeno.

Hallo Chris
This Purple Gallinule surely have large paws. I agree with Umit those long fingers do somehow compare to a witch of some kind. Fantastic colours Lovely shot of this bright bird. Very sharp image and good-looking and sunny background. Well focused with good point of view. Its beak looks as if it has been painted with red gloss paint. Lovely presentation. I enjoyed looking at this one. Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards.
Anna

Hello Chris
This lovely fella reminds me of a moorhen or coot which we have in the UK.
Nice composition with him balancing on the branch looking as though he will fall at any moment...lovely colours and background.
best Regards

Hi chris,

This Gallinule is quite an acrobat standing on this tiny branch. You've captured her in a very original position. Great vivid well saturated colours and a nice light in the eye. Well done!
