I just returned from two weeks in Costa Rica and present you this Chestnut-colored Woodpecker, Celeus castaneus, as my 100th post and first image from my travels. My time was taken up with some mission work but I also found time to explore the beautiful forests and beaches for some photography. Thank you all for your critiques and kind words you have sent my way in the past and sharing your knowledge as well as wonderful photos.

The Chestnut-coloured Woodpecker (Celeus castaneus) is a specie of bird in the Picidae family. It is found in Belize, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, and Panama.

Habitat
Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and less frequently middle elevations.

Description
Appears very dark, with many V-shaped black marks on rich chestnut above and below; crested head creamy brown; bill greenish ivory. Male broad moustache mark, part of ear patch and (sometimes) lores red.

I have waited for long to see your 100th and you have not dissapointed me at all. CONGRATULATIONS on reaching this huge milestone (the first 100 is difficult but the rest follows naturally) and wish to see many many more from you.
This is an outstanding shot of this beautiful bird with awesome colours and details on its plumage. Fantastic lighting and you have captured a fine pose. Great DOF isolates it perfectly from the BG and I like your chosen POV to portray it. Can't wait any longer to see your other shots from your travel. Very nicely composed. Kudos.

This one is just superb and a woodpecker I have never even heard of let alone seen in any picture.
The light and shadows werent playing totally in your favour but you have pulled off a well exposed scene with superbly sharp details which are highlighted so well by a gorgeous background.
