Paul,

This has to be your best image in terms of sheer timing. Nothing comes close to the fear a snake can drive in some people and this shot will give many people nightmares I'm sure of it.

You have a marvellous focus point and have used it well to throw the rest of the image out of focus even though we might expect that aperture to give us more in focus, it is just right being this close in macro mode.

Amazing colour and the flash has brought the detail out nicely. I'm very impressed with the low point of view making the viewer appear to be in strike range (or not being a little bluffer!).

The composition is great and the 's' shape of the snake adds to the photo.
