Hello Peter,
Fantastic shot of a grasshopper nymph, sharp and excellently composed.
I also don't think this species is poisonous, the colouring being more suitable for camouflage (droppings on leaves?) but i think that another defence mechanisn is the heavy armour on the powerful legs.
TFS this very impressive posting.

Hi Peter

This is truely remarcable! What a beautiful specimen!!!
Everything about it is amazing: beginning from those long antennas (with thier great colors and clearly visible segments), to the big and shiny eyes and ending with the thorny legs...it's all fantastic!
What a capture!
I also like the textures on its body and the strong contrast created between the bright patches and the dark colors on its side.
The picture itself is technically impeccable: sharpness, POV, DOF and exposure - all are more than great!
VERY WELL DONE!

You're really letting us savour your wonderful Costa Rica gallery over a long time! This is another impressive shot of a beautiful grasshopper, very sharp details and interesting pattern. Very nice composition too.
Did you come across these variious insects on your own or did you have a guide to take you places?

What a cute insect. I have never seen anything similar. Perfect POV. Tremendous DOF, sharpness and details. Excellent soft lighting and wonderful exact colours. As always composition is outstanding. BG is excellent too. BRAVO and my best wishes to you.

Ein Spitzenfoto in ganz tollen Farben und auch der Schaerfeverlauf ist sagenhaft. Der Höhepunkt aber die perfekte Perspektive des Grashuepfers und der Bildschnitt. Einfach klasse.

Hallo Peter,
hervorragend anvisierter und ins Bild gesetzter Grashüpfer - die Fühler, der gesamte Körper und sein dornenbewehrtes Hinterbein liegen perfekt im scharfen Bereich. Das Blatt, auf dem er sitzt, führt dynamisch in die Tiefe, und flott und ansprechend ist die diagonale Komposition des Bildes.
Sehr ansprechend ist auch die zurückhaltend natürliche Farbwiedergabe dieses schön gezeichneten Hüpfers, und seine erwartungsvoll kecke Pose - wie bereit zum Sprung in Neue Jahr.

And because the old year is ending today I decided to write a few words to one of your earlier presentation :)
This grasshopper picture is really great! You presented not only interesting species (I like especialy its colouration and hooks on its legs!!!), but you did it in very professional way. Very nice POV, great DOF and details, natural light ect. :)
