| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
| My concluding series on my climb of Volcan Pacaya begins with the first of three photos of neighboring Volcan Agua taken from the slopes of Volcan Pacaya. The two neighbors are part of the Central American Arc of volcanoes along the subduction zone of the Cocos and Carribean Plates. Guatemala alone has over 30 such volcanoes, although most, including Volcan Agua, have not erupted in historic times. Obviously, from the previous photos in the series and the recent lava flow in the foreground, Volcan Pacaya definitely fits in the active category. |
