[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is an adult Rufous-tailed hummingbird (Amazilia tzacatl).This picture was taken after a very rainy day, and the hummingbird was stretching and drying his (or her) feathers.

The picture shows the 2 disctinctive features of the species, the rufous tail and an ill defined reflective throat, there is no sexual dimorfism (Van Perlo 2006).

Tell you a secret! Try to scroll up and down quickly and notice the tail will flip.

I like the backlight effect on this capture and a strange green on the body. A good shot showing very unique pose of the bird with your well timed moment. Despite only 1/125s, the focus sharpness is good.

Very skillful in the way you handle the light here. I would probably crop the top a bit to make it less square and balance out, but that is personal preference.

definitely an outstanding eye catcher!
I like the simple matter-of-fact explanation of a hummingbird just drying its feathers.
Creatively seen, perfectly composed, technically well made with the fill flash bringing out the glossy feathers of the throat in a fascinating way while the tail is shining brightly in the backlight.
