From the second floor of my hotel - the turtle beachhotel - I saw this parrotllet sitting in a gigantic firtree. I had heard these birds but not seen them till that moment. It sat there for a couple of seconds and I was lucky to have my camera ready for a snapshot.
The green-rumped Parrotlet is one of the smallest species in the parrot family, the "Parakeet"or "lovebird" is now widespread in lowland areas of Trinidad, although it was not recorded before the twentieth century. It is less common in Tobago, where it may be an introduced species. A popular cagebird, this tiny parrot is bright green all over and has a pink bill. The call is a squeaky chatter and is usually heard in chorus. This species is very gregarious and the birds are almost always seen in groups of 10 to 20. At night they congregate to roost in large numbers, and can often be seen preening each other's feathers as they settle for the night. It feeds on seeds and can cause damage to garden plants. It nests in a hole, exploiting not only natural cavities but also man-made structures, such as pipes and roof-eaves.

What a cute shot, Zeno.
Interesting composition with that fir branch pointing out in a perfect triangle, with the adorable little parrot peeking out at the end.
