Wonderful shot of this gorgeous looking Grasshopper. Very impressive sharpness (considering that it is a scanned image) and lovely colours and markings on its body. The banana leaf presents a fine BG and you have captured a classic pose. Excellent POV to portray it and very nicely composed. Kudos.

Though from a scanned slide, this is an excellent capture of this large Grasshopper. The colours, POV and sharpness are great and I like the diagonal composition on a banana leaf.

Very well seen ,with sharp focus and detail.
The POV is excellent,and the colours are natural and well saturated.
Nicely composed on the beautiful big leaf,both the vein of the leaf and the hopper allign in a diagonal direction.

Hi Peter!
What a long grasshopper! Really interesting creature! I like especially its colouration. And I can read in your note that it has some 16 cm, really impressive size! If I remember only some Saga species are similar in size to this one, especially among European species of Orthoptera.
According to the technique I believe that a little better DOF would be nice (or maybe - I do not know - picture was sharpned a little too much). Anyway it is still very interesting entomological presentation.
And last, small correction. According to International Codex of Zoological Nomenclature the Latin species name (here cristata) should be writtern in small letter. Only genus name is written in capital letter :)
