Hello Richard,
the species and its characteristic features are shown very well - in particular the dark blue iridescence.
Point of view is well selected. In combination with exact focus, the entire butterfly is presented with pretty good sharpness.
The background shows slight noise.

The colours are vivid and deep.
I like the way the shot is composed with the leaves creating a diagonal cross hatching effect,very beautiful.

What a most beautiful butterfly. A wonderful display of colours. A very striking insect with clearly visible details. You managed to capture this beauty in a lovely pose. I just love the white markings on the edges of the wings, and the veins that are so much noticeable. Great focus, sharpness and composition. A definite PPPP – Pretty, perfect, picture photo. Not only is this a superb capture, but it brings back memories of our visit to Trinidad twelve years ago, where it is called the Blue Doris. At that time I had basic film camera equipment.
So it's nice to see this excellent sharp and well composed image of this beautiful Heliconiid and I thank you for sharing it.
