Hello Sky,
What a lovely pose and lizard my friend! Your capture is excelent! It may be a Tejidae member. But I have limited information on the Costa Rica herptiles. I will try to find its ID searching my library. If I could succes I will return to you my friend. TFS.
Cheers,

Hallo Sky
I must admit, I do not like to comment on reptiles because I know to little about the subject. In the same breath I must add that looking at this image, this little rascal's grabbed my attention. I do not why I have this feeling but this looks like a “naughty boy” in the reptile world.
Its body has a lovely display of patterns and markings, and such long paws. A lovely capture of this cute little fellow in between the leaves, which also set an ideal backdrop. Enjoy your day.

Hello Sky,
Excellent composition in this sharp capture of a Costa Rican lizard. The POV shows the patterns of the back nicely and the pose is great on the dry dead leaves.
Thanks for sharing this beauty,

This is spiny lizard (genus Sceloporus) in the family Phrynosomatidae. But cant recognize the species. Great capture.

Hello Sky!
As I see Bayram and Umit noted some types for this lizard species before, but maybe I would be bale to add a little :) I was looking for any details about Costarican herpetopauna, and I found some kind of photo field guide (unformtunatelly only to one region of this country). Anyway, your picture looks a little similar to Teeidae family, and to genus Ameiva (you can compare it here.
Anyway, I believe that it was not easy to take a picture of so small (and probably very mobile) species of lizard, especially in such habitat! :)
Best greetings,
Radomir

Hi Sky,
My son had one of these my Aunt brought him up from Georgia once, He called it a rock lizard, course he was like 7 at the time and I remember him saying that a bug that was in the jar with the little guy could kill you if it bit you so not sure how reliable that info is..:o) I do know though if you tried to pick that guy up by the tail he'ld drop it knowing that by experience...:o)
Good eye finding him mixed in with all the dried leaves!
TFS
