[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is an Orange-barred Sulphur (Phoebis philea) from the Pieridae family that we found at Palo Verde on the west coast of Costa Rica. The upperwings of the male have an orange band on them, but of course they rarely open their wings when they resting of feeding on nectar.

The catapillars feed on Cassia sp from the Fabaecae family while the adults feed on nectar from many species. They range from Florida through the Caribbean islands and central America to Brazil. They prefer drier open lowland forests and gardens and have a wingspan of 100mm.

Hi Chris!

The colour contrasts make this picture an outstanding one. I like the combination of the red and yellow spots very much and I'm also impressed by the richness of the details.

Kind regards

Markus

Hallo Chris
A lovely arrangement of colours on one image. The display of colours are gorgeous and composition perfect. I like the feeling of harmony I experience looking at this image. The yellow butterfly looks great with the red flower, and is a great match. You have shared a very nice shot with excellent composition and framing. A super sharp photo with a great pose. Thanks for sharing.
Enjoy your day.
Anna

Ciao Chris,
ottimo scatto di questo bel Pieridae.
Mi piace molto la saturazione dei colori e il contrasto fra le ali gialle della farfalla ed il rosso acceso del fiore.
Complimenti,
Marcello
