[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a Marbled or Veined Treefrog (Phrynohyas venulose) a highly variable frog that is found in lowland dryer forests from Mexico through Central America, south to Paraguay in South America.
They survive through the dry season in a variety of moist retreats, including bromeliads, leaf axils, tree crevices, and beneath the bark on standing trees.
It is a relatively large frog around 70mm in length. They feed predominantly on insects, especially grasshoppers and crickets, beetles, flies, and bugs. The thick dermal bumps on the dorsum are rich in granular poison glands. These glands produce a thick, sticky, milky secretion that is highly irritating and can cause sneezing in humans, even without direct contact. The secretion undoubtedly discourages predators and we found this one out in the open, happily eating insects that were attracted to the door under the light outside the dinning area at the reserve headquarters.

Hello Chris, what a superb focus on the eye. The details look super sharp. Really eye catching. What would've been nice is it grabbing a leaf, still great catch, nice pose caught. tfs rgds Necip
