The contrast between the flower and the yellows of the frong are so vibrant.
You got a razorsharp image, with wonderful details on the amphibian skin.

This is the first time I see this specie. What an amazing creature! In the thumbnail, before seeing your name and the picture, I thought it was a toy's picture :-) Those colors are really stunning and so are those details, POV, composition and DOF. It is really impressive the level of detail and color you get from your subjects. The lighting is excellent and you can tell you carefully work the exposure. You are to be lauded for a super shot both in detail and composition.

Hello Paul,
when I started posting images here on TN last summer you were one of the first to comment a picture of a common toad. I went through your gallerie and immeadeatly liked your style a lot. Well balanced images with little distraction and keen use of light. Ever since this toad I've posted mainly older work, but next year I intent te spend a lot of time of experimenting with subtile use of flash. Did you use flash in this one? Last year I went into the field with 2,5 kg's of equipment (tripod and flashes) to find a nice setup. But that was at the end of the anura season. Hopefully next year more chances. I wondered if you use a multi flashsystem?

THis image underlines your delicate technique. Soft colours with not too high contrast. Just great!

I think i speak not only in my name when i say that we've missed you!
This is indeed a terrific shot!
Everything here seems to be perfect ;)
The details are impeccably sharp on every edge of the frog, the colors, textures and patterns on its bedy are fantastic and well saturated and that charming eye-contact is the cherry on top of the cake.
I really like he POV here, too, as well as teh great choice of the DOF, which isolated teh frog nicly from the BG.
The flash is again another outstanding part of your work here, with just enough light on the frog as necessary (no more nor less).
A splendid composition!

Firstly, a very thoughtful and well aimed dedication. I am sure Howard was thrilled to bits.

This is the best looking Costa Rican I have ever seen (chuckle). Brilliant in appearance, excellently captured and presented, and so well complimented by the amazing BG.

I love the composition, the colours are radiant and a sight for sore eyes, the details are exceptional, and the lighting was masterfully managed.
