There are many beautiful places in the Balkans, some of them are really monumental and well known, but some are not and "nobody" knows that they really exist...

And here is the one of the "hidden" Albanian beauties -
Syri-i-Kalter spring (=Blue Eye).

This is really a very special area. It is surrouded by warm mountains where water almost does not exist during the summer period... This is the peaceful oasis with cold, fresh water... All around there are old beeches, birds are singing, river is roaring...

For me it looks like one of the places which could be localized in J.R.R. Tolkien's Shire, with the only exception - there are no hobbits ;>

The spring is amazing too. It is about 70 meters deep - something like 20-storeyed building! Can you imagine this?? ;> Really I have to say that probably this is not the maximum depth - because of water speed it is very difficult to measure it (water flows out even about 9 cubic meters per second!).

Its waters have only about 10C and it is really cold if you compare it with 25-30C of air temperature in this area :)

In this place we spent a night - just to rest and to take a break from really hot Albanian climat... :)

And here you can see one of the inhabitants of this beauty, green-blue area...

And last but not least, I would like to dedicate this picture to my friend from Ukraina - Alexei
(Alex99)
. I believe that in hot Crimea "a few drops of water" would be nice change ;>

Hej,
Tez dalem zdjecie stad jakis czas temu :-)
Szczerze mowiac ta fotka nie bardzo mi sie podoba, a powody po temu sa nastepujace:

1) z jednej strony masz tu liczne pola kompletnie przeswietlone, z drugiej zas obszary ciemne i w rezultacie zdjecie sprawia wrazenie kompletnie zle naswietlonego,

No ale oczywiscie to zupelnie subiektywny poglad :-)
Serdecznosci,
Michal

This is the first shot I see from Albania.
TFS,
Andrea

Hello Radomir,
This looks and sounds like a wonderful place, full of magic! I like the old tree in the foreground and how you've captured the light. Wonderful colours and very nice point of view.
Many thanks, Ulla

Hi Radomir,
Very romantic place you show us here, there is even the balcony. Interesting story about the watersource. You have taken the picture from an ideal point of view, including the tree on the left.
Best regards
Anne

Hi Radomir.
You have remarkable taste and ability to select subjects for landscape (and not only to landscape) shooting. I accept this dedication as the nice sample of art photo and a sign on our friendship with the great pleasure. I like this view very much. Amazing POV, wonderful expressive tree and charming Blue eye. Play of lights and darks, crisp sharpness and perfect details of the image create a great esthetic feelings. Thank you very much and my best wishes.
Alexei.

P.S. It would be better, if our government would be occupied in this problem (a problem of ensuring of water of Crimea). However, neither the government of the USSR before, nor the government of Ukraine now does not have any business for this problem.

Ya, where have all the Hobbits gone, Radomir :-)?
Real 'cool' atmosphere here. The water looks truly refreshing, especially when you mention it was hot in Albania at the time of your visit.
The well trodden trail along the old gnarled tree gives the impression of a lovely, lived-in ambience.
TFS.
Ram

Hello Ramdomir,
This is a beautiful place indeed and I think I saw a hobbit passing by ;) I love those great details you caught, POV, composition and this nice composition with this little plan of water that is so blue. This seems to be a dream place. Well seen and well done with interesting notes. Thanks,
Claudine

Hello Radomir,
Wonderful landscape.Looks like a painting.POV,details,colors and framing are excellent.Have a great weekend!
TFS..:-)

This is a nice image with good natural framing provided by that great gnarly tree. The aqua of the water is beautiful. sharpness and depth of focus is very good. I think you lost some saturation on upload. When I opened the image on my desktop it looked quite a bit richer. I'm wondering if the image may need a rotation to the right. I rotated it so that the wooden platform was level and it felt better to me. Is this a self contained spring, or part of a flowing river? If it is a pool then it should be level too.

TFS
