Albino Monocled Cobra
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Nockalm Reptilienzoo in Patergassen, Carinthia offers some great reptile species especially snakes. Among them cobras and rattlesnakes are well presented.
I think the cobra on photo is albino monocled cobra (Naja kaouthia), which appeared very live behind the glass.
This is venomous species living in Asia close to human habitation so many bites from this snake occur to humans. It can grow up to 2 meters and primarily it's a nocturnal animal eating rodents and so coming close to humans. As it is the case with other albino animals (nature distribution 1 in 10000 animals) the red eyes are common. |

Nice photo, like the diagonal line of the snake in photo and the light shine through the snake’s neck.
