Tortrix viridana.

Tortrix viridana (Linnaeus, 1758)

Green Oak Tortrix
Grüner Eichenwickler
Eikenbladroller
Grön ekvecklare
Gronn eikevikler
Tammikääriäinen
Zwójka zieloneczka
Obaľovač zelený
Obaleč dubový

Family: Tortricidae

Wingspan: 17 - 24 mm

Distributed all over Europe.
Common in oak forests and parks.

Caterpillars leaving oak trees defoliated in some years.

Moths can be found in May and June, active night and day. Considered to be obnoxious when appearing in large numbers. And, from my rather naïve point of view, considered to look pretty.

Literature:

Location:
Humid deciduous forest above the shady southern shores of Lake Millstatt, Carinthia.

Camera:
SONY DSC-H5, sRGB, 3072 x 2304 pixel, Macro Zoom 16mm, F/4, 1/160 sec, ISO-150, 17.06.2006, 12:26, handheld, no flash.

Postwork:
Photoshop Elements: cropped, contrast, saturation and brightness adjusted, selectively sharpened, resized to the web.

Have a very good start of Summer.
Thank you for looking.

Hallo Peter,
ich bewundere scharfe Fotos von solchen 'Mikros'. Eine schöne Komposition verschiedener Grüntöne, aus denen sich viridana trotzdem gut abhebt.

Excellent picture, the texture of the wings is outstanding. This species seems to be out in force this year, we have seen several pictures today on different web groups, but none as good as this one, IMO.

Hi Peter,
An amazing shot with every shade of green possible in this. The detail is excellent. I love all the textures and patterns that are shown here.
This looks great.

Hi Peter
I too fail to see what is so obnoxious about it. Maybe it might have something to do with its caterpillar being a pest.
A nice composition, colours are well saturated, details are clear, BG is fine, and exposure was well controlled.
Good work and TFS.
Regards
Loot
PS. When are we going to see some shots from the 350D? Just curious.

Hallo Peter,
