[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
My dabbling with a compact camera:

A 12 mm long Common sawfly (Hymenoptera; Tenthredinidae; Tenthredo notha Klug, 1817; eine Blattwespe) was sitting still on Filipendula, and so the automatic focussing worked properly. I exploited the advantages of a compact camera like short exposure times (1/400 sec at ISO 100) and good DOF with f/4. The shot was taken hand held, the anti shake device helped. I attached a magnifying lens to the objective.

ID: The Leaf wasps are a species- rich group and there are some knotty cases for ID. I depended on the site of Wolfgang Rutkies (www.rutkies.de) for ID. Wolfgang even provides a detailed determination key for a difficult group. Thanks, Wolfgang. "Hymenoptera Information System" has an excellent site ( http://hymis.de). The wasp could also be T. arcuata or T. brevicornis for all I gathered.

super Makro. Sowohl das Insekt als auch die Blume sind sehr gut dargestellt. Wunderbare Farben mit super Kontrast.

Hallo Dietrich,
ich bin echt beeindruckt von dieser Kompaktkamera. Vor allem die Tiefenschärfe bei f/4 ist ausgesprochen gut. Sowohl die Wespe als auch die Blume sind sehr gut getroffen. Die gute Schärfe lässt einige schöne Details erkennen und die Farben wirken natürlich.

what a great macro-shot compact camera you mentioned. Its is resuls not different from one of a SLR. you greatly captured sawfly feeding on flowers. sharp details, BG, POV/DOF, coloration great. thanks for sharing

Hello Dietrich,
Not long ago I captured the same, or a similar, Sawfly. My guess at ID was T. arcuata but I'm not sure. Anyway, you captured this one from a fine POV showing details and colours very nicely. A pretty flower too and I like the green background.
It certainly has a striking yellow colour that is very beautiful.
