On the walk in the ANtwerp Zoo
Curly pelican
They brood in broad colonies to 250 couples on the ground in fields of cane with sugar or on floating islands. The young people are born naked, but a sleeping bag appears in the week. The young people remain 70-85 days in the nest. The nest is made branches, sugar canes and grass and they are long 1 m and broad 65 cm. Wintering: In Asia, they are true migratory birds and they leave the site of nesting to spend the winter more to the south. In Europe, they disperse and seek lakes noncold in the vicinity of the zones of nesting. |

Hello Guy, Good sharpness & details seen in this pair. Well composed with a nice reflection. It's a bit OE, not much though. Zoo shots are difficult because of the fences, etc. that enter into the frame, causing distraction...Well done.
