Red kangaroo
Macropus rufus
The red kangaroo prefer the dry grounds where they live in group generally from 6 to 12 members but they are able to them also to gather, being able to form groups of 100 members. The gray kangaroos prefer the wooded grounds. It lives in all Australia, except extreme north.
During the day it rests in the shade. In the twilight, it leaves to research food. Thanks to its back legs, it can make great jumps going even until 6 to 8 m from length and 2 to 3 m height when it flees, with a speed of 40 - 50 km/h (on short distances 90 km/h).
It uses its small legs fronts to collect food and to hold it in its hands during the meal. It scrapes also the ground in the search of food or water. |
