Storks are large, long-legged, long-necked wading birds with long stout bills, belonging to the family Ciconiidae. They occur in most of the warmer regions of the world and tend to live in drier habitats than the related herons, spoonbills and ibises; they also lack the powder down that those groups use to clean off fish slime. Storks have no syrinx and are mute, giving no bird call; bill-clattering is an important mode of stork communication at the nest. Many species are migratory. Most storks eat frogs, fish, insects, earthworms, and small birds or mammals. There are 19 living species of storks in six genera.

Hello Annick,
What a great focus and details in this photo. Very beautiful light and colours. Great composition.

Hi Annick,
oh this looks intensely powerful, so very close - excellent framing, dynamic composition, a perfect reduction of elements and colours!
Wonderful details and shades of colours in the white feathers, and brilliant contrasts at the beak and the eye are bringing this stork right into touching distance.
Thank you! My best regards,
Peter

Ha Annick,
ik zag er vandaag eentje in de weilanden vanuit de trein. Wel wat verder af dan jij hier. Mooie details. Ze kunnen er soms zo afgeragd uit zien.
Mooi ook tegen de groene achtergrond

Hello Annick
Superb close portrait of a White Stork with professional technical quality. Fine feather details and lighting.
The bits of duckweed on the beak suggest that it was after your edible frog!
TFS and have a nice weekend!

Hola Annick,
exquisita captura,
magnífico trabajo,

Hi Annick,

how's it going?
I always see storks around SIngapore, but i never thought of picturing them. Maybe coz they're always so afraid of humans.

But this shot here really brought out the life and beauty of a simple creature. I really like the sharpness and color contrasts.
Seems like the lighting was a little odd shining only on the beak. but great job with the exposure of the rest of the body as well.

nice one.
Steph

Hello Annick

Details of a high quality and natural colors. Did you use a polarizing filter?
Thank you for sharing

That bright red beak really stands out against the pure white plumage.
Masterful exposure on the whites and excellent focus.
The pose with the beak open and the neck tucked in brings a lot of tension into the image. The catchlight in the eye makes the stork look so alert as well.
I keep expecting the bird to strike any minute.
TFS. : )

Good portrait of this stork with good handle on exposure on the plumage! Kudos! Cheers, Klaus

Bonjour Annick,
parfaite netteté sur cette tête de cigogne, tout est excellent, les couleurs, le POV
merci de la partager

Hi Annick,
Great portrait of this stork.
Nice details all over, and a perfect non-disturbing background. The only thing I would critique is the flash light reflecting on the beak. Preferably, I like to avoid this kind of light spots because it makes the picture less pure. Nevertheless a very good shot.
Regards, Ruud

awesome pose, wonderful beak...I really like this pose

Eccezionali dettagli e colori. Bravissimo

This is really fabulous!
The closest I ever got to these was in May this year, when I visited Colmar in Alsace for a few hours (and then it was wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy up on top of a cathedral -- but I was sooooooooo exceited I should blush!).

The colours here are superbly rich, but what really attracts me is the perfect crop and composition: excellent diagonals
