Hi Annick,

gr. Paula

Bonjour Annick,
Your bird resemble to a female "canard souchet" (in frech), anas clypeata, we have here in North America. Here, the beak and the top of the head is a bit paler, but it may be an "area variety", I don't know.
The shot is perfect, light, DOF, sharpness... Congratulations!

Hello Annick,
Great close-up of this American Shoveller. Impressive sharpness and fine colours. Are those hairs in his beak? Excellent composition in good light.
Many thanks, Ulla

That broad beak is a give-away. : )
It is a "Donald Duck" kind of duck!
Yes, a Northern Shoveler seems to be the right ID, and a female at that.
Fantastic details, especially the "hairs along the beak.
"Its elongated, spoon-shaped bill has comblike projections along its edges, which filter out food from the water." A distinctive feature of dabbling ducks.
TFS. : )

Hi Annick,
this is definately a Shoveller.
+++ Very very sharp, very detailed, excellent low-down POV, superb colours and a brilliant DOF to isolate it from it's BG.
--- Absolutely nothing :)
