Rana esculenta
Found in continental Europe and northern Asia.
Feeds on ants, wasps, flies, beetles, butterflies and moths. Reaches a size in between 5 and 9 cm.
Unfortunately this type of frog is considered a delicacy in some countries.
This frog prefers to live in the water and in groups. It is most active during the day and loves the sun.
There are three types of this green frog: small, medium and large.
You can find them all summer long in the neighbourhood of clean water. They are not very demanding when it comes to their habitat. They need a place to sit in the sun, preferably in or closeby water with shady areas. |
