Sparassis laminosa (Fr., 1836)
Family : Sparassidaceae

Sparassis laminosa grows on oaks tree roots.
It is quite rare mushroom and on the red list of the endangered mushrooms in Germany, UK, Montenegro, and some other countries.
It is edible when young. When it gets older, it has a bad smell like urine or bleach.
It can be confused with Sparassis crispa witch is a parasite feeding on pine tree roots.

Hi Catherine. From what you say in your notes about the Sparassis laminosa i would not like to eat it when it get old!!!. You have taken this fungi from a good low POV . So we are looking straight at it, You have taken it with fine detai land warm colours. Well taken TFS.
