The true wonder of this tree is the shiny deep blue or turquoise berries framed by scarlet calyxes, like a four pointed star, formed in autumn.
The harlequin glorybower (Clerodendrum trichotomum, Verbenaceae family), is a deciduous tree growing to 6m by 3m.
Its name comes from the Greek, combining kliros (κλήρος) = clergy or chance, and dendron (δένδρον) = tree. It is originated from China and Japan. It has been used as a medicinal plant from the earliest time. The leaves are mildly analgesic, antipruritic, hypotensive and sedative.
Info

What, a blue point on the red, this a marvelous act-result from nature and very good captured.
Best wishes.

Hello Catherine!
This is a very beautiful composition. I like natural contrast presented on the photo. Laso there is a very nice asymetry visible in the composition - elements paying the most attention are in right corner while more "free space" is on the oposite side. It is more interesting if we note vivid colours of Clerodendrum trichotomum. What can I say more? It is rather simly composition but the final effect of presentation is fantastic - both from technical and artistic points of view :)
TFS and my best regards,
Radomir
