[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The name of (Castanea sativa), or Sweet chestnut or Spanish chestnut come from latin castanea, itself originated from the greek kastanea, καστανέα. This name could be a reference to Kastanon, a city from Thessalia, famous in the Antiquity for the quality of its chestnuts.

Before potatoes were introduced, chestnuts were the basic food of the poor in much of southern Europe. The Romans may have introduced the idea of systematically cultivating and using chestnut in Europe.

La chataigne est le fruit du châtaignier (Castanea sativa), qui vient du latin castanea, lui-même dérivé du grec kastanea, καστανέα. Ce nom ferait référence à Kastanon, une ville de Thessalie renommée dans l'Antiquité pour la qualité des châtaignes qu'on y récoltait.

La châtaigne est un aliment énergétique qui a servi de base à l'alimentation de nombreux peuples méditerranéens. Le châtaignier était appelé « arbre à pain ». Les Romans auraient répandu la culture et l’usage du châtaignier en Europe.
Arrosées de vin cuit, les châtaignes étaient appréciées de Charlemagne.

Cette nature morte est un vrai régal! on en mangerait!
La composition est très bien pensée avec un bon focus sur la première chataigne, une belle lumière et de jolies couleurs.

This pic shows how lovely the autumn can be. However, I would remove that burned-out area on the chestnut on the left. But in spite of that it is still a WONDERFUL pic! TFS! Rafal
