No butterfly, but still some damselflies...
The Green emerald damselfly or Willow emerald damselfly (Lestes viridis) is a widespread damselfly of the Lestidae family. It is common in Belgium and Netherland late summer and early autumn. Male and female are mainly metallic green. The eyes are brown. It lays their eggs into crevices in the bark of overhanging branches.
Body Length: 39-48mm. Hindwing Length: 21-28mm

Hi Catherine.
I like your fine close-up. First of all I welcome nice wide DOF and excellent details even of wings. BG is very attractive. Its colouration is uncommon and nice. Sharpness of the insect and dry stem is great. Excellent job.
Alexei.

Hi Catherine,

very nice view of this damselfly... last week i have seen myself this species for the first time... not succeeded to take any photo.
pity that you have not tried this with a fill flash... a lot of detail on insect will reveal.

TFS,
cosmln

Hello catherine,

Your photo has a very good composition. It is the vertical stem and the diagonaly placed damselfly that makes the image very dinamic. Colors are so well shown and a reachness of color tones can be seen.

Thank you for sharing,
Cristian

A fine macro capture under backlighted conditions Catherine, not the perfect combination to gain a maximum amount of detail, still a pretty take with partly open wings, a rarity in damsels. TFS this fine image my friend.
Cheers,
Mehmet

Hi Catherine. This is very late for damselflies for you is it not. You have captured a good pose on the grass . with fine detail and natural colours.A nice POV/DOF. well done TFS.
