[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The first bright sunny day of February represents maybe the start of the mating season for the red squirrels. After very cold and dark winter days, they can enjoy some sun and find the first young shoots of the season.

But in fact what makes run those squirrels are two Rose-ringed Parakeets (Psittacula krameri), which harassed them from branch to branch, making big noise. Who started the conflict? See on the workshop with one of them purchasing a squirrel. There is a large population of Rose-ringed Parakeets in Brussels and surrounding, originated from escaped birds (I will tell you about them one day).

The red squirrel or Eurasian red squirrel (Sciurus vulgaris), like most tree squirrels, has sharp, curved claws to enable it to climb and descend broad tree trunks, thin branches and even house walls. Its strong hind legs enable it to leap gaps between trees. The red squirrel is protected in most of Europe, as it is listed in Appendix III of the Bern Convention; it is listed as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List. (Wikipedia)

--------------------------------------------------------

Hi Catherine, a very nice moment in the nature. Great details and colours.

Regards, Dan.

Hello Catherine
Red squirrels are always a subject of nice pictures, and if the subject is moving or posting in a funny way, the picture became wanderful. Like this! Because is not only a static picture, everyone could imagine the play of this two nice creatures! Well done and TFS

Hello Catherine,
I love the little tuffs on their ears, the squirrels here in Ohio don't have them. Yours have such a beautiful shade of red to their fur, it almost could be called a rust color I guess. Very good composition and exposure seen in this fine photo!! TFS.

Ciao Catherine,
