[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Comma (Polygonia c-album) is a butterfly of the Nymphalidae family, common in the United Kingdom and with a distribution across Europe and temperate Asia to Japan and south to Morocco. It has a white marking on its underwings resembling a comma. The wings have a distinctive ragged edge, apparently a cryptic form as the butterfly resembles a fallen leaf. The caterpillars are also cryptic, resembling a bird dropping.
It is a widespread species in Europe and Asia, until North Africa. It can be seen on open woodland and wood edges, on fields and gardens.

Le Robert-le-diable (Polygonia c-album) est l'un des papillons d'Europe les plus caractéristiques de la famille des Nymphalidae. La couleur et la forme des ailes au bord découpé permettent de le reconnaître, même en silhouette. Le verso est brun foncé ou brun jaunâtre clair, avec une tache blanche en forme de « C » aux ailes postérieures (d’où son nom). Il se rencontre dans une grande variété de d'habitats : lisières des forêts, talus, champs et jardins. C’est une espèce commune en Eurasie.

Hi Catherine. This is a good side view of the Comma Butterfly.Which you have taken from A good low side view. Your use of the light has given fine detail and rich colours. I went looking for Butterflies earler in the week but the weather was cool and the when i saw the kingfisher the butterflies had to wait. well done TFS.

It is simply wonderful close-up. I like all at your amazing shot: POV and composition of the image, superb details of the insect and leaf, fine lights and shadows and splendid colou palette. Excellente presentation.Bon PDV et image bien en focus avec un parfait controle de la lumiere qui nous donnes de tres belle parties ombragées.J'aime beaucoup l'arriere plan hors focus et j'aime bien également les couleurs.
