[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a mushroom,i just found out it is a mycena metata.
I didn't use a tripod, but used the treetrunk to hold the camera still. It was not very sunny so i used flash.I did some minor pp, brightness-contrast, did some minor colour change with selective colour,USM.That's about it.
hope you like it!

some info :Solitary or in small groups in mossy lawns, under conifers as well as deciduous trees, on vegetable debris, decaying wood, not infrequently also on moss-covered tree trunks.
It is easy to recognize by the campanulate-umbonate palegreyish brown pileus, white to pale greyish orange or pink lamellae, a long grey stipeand mild chlorine odor. Microscopically, the large, broadly clavate hymenial cystidiaapically covered with evenly spaced rod-like spinulae are characteristic.

Very good composition with nice detail and texture of the wood.
Good use of the flash too without burning out too many areas.Just the edge of the top mushroom is a little bright.
I'm not sure which fungi it is but it looks similar to the wet ones I posted last week, they were also growing on an old tree trunk.
A good shot,well done.

Hi Kirsten, I like this. The composition is very good, maybe a little more cropped off the top? The details and lighting are excellent. I also like it because it has helped me ID a similar fungi.

Well done and thanks.

Hallo, klein Uiltjie
Pragtig. Very nice and moody. I concur with Paul on the cropping off some of the top, just below where the white mark is in the top, right.

Kirsten, Great shot with good use of flash. I like your comp./framing but would've cropped-out some space top as the others have said. Tree-trunks come in handy sometimes hey! Good job on this!

Nice one Kirsten they are well seen and I particulary like your discription of how you took the shot.

Wonderful work. The use of nature for supporting the cam, and taking this pic. Great composition, crisp clear focus.
Well done

Mike

Very nice capture. The light creating the dark hole at the back looks quite scarry.

Goed gedaan Kirsten, pragtige werk.

Hi baby... precious composition from an excellent illumination that allows to see the fungus in its surroundings perfectly.
Good colorful and sharpness with interesting complementary note.
Perhaps the only critic would be the size of the frame... but the general presentation is really very good.

Nice, these lampposts in browny colours, captured from a treetrunk!
Good shot, dear Kirsten!

Interesting little and big mushrooms. I think your compostition is great, I like the way the bark? angles diagonaly across the photo. The dark above the mushrooms balances the photo. Nice sharp, crisp photo, well done.
