This is a greensstink bug on a sunflower, i didn't crop it to tight so you can enjoy the nice colours of the flower to...again no tripod, no flash, it was sunny. Some minor pp, usm, sharpening, brightness/contrast, selective colours, cropping, resizing.

here's some info : This species is not called Green Stink Bug for nothing. First of all it is green indeed and secondly it produces a stinking liquid. That's why it is such an unwanted animal. It not only produces this perfume when in danger, like lady beetles do. Everywhere it goes it leaves behind a stinking trail. You often notice this picking blackberries. Suddenly you pick a smelly one, tasting awfully when eaten. Usually a Green Stink Bug was there before you were. Green Shield Bugs have only very few natural enemies. It is a very common species all over the British Isles and on the continent as well.

Great composition again Kirsten. I like bugs and this one in particular has nice colors.
You needed steel arms for this one (no tripod). TFS.

I like the larger compo showing the stink bug. Interestin sunflower have you got a picture of the whole flower. It look different to what I am used to.

Nice shot. Like the contrast of colours. Thanks for not cropping. I think the image would not be as effective. Good work!

I love this very large shot. I appreciate the composition, the way you frame it. The insect gives a life dimension too. Really good.

Nice work Kirsten, I like the colours and the composition. The Stink bug nymph stands out very well on the background. Well done.

Hola Kirsten... bonita presentacion doble con una excelente macro bien encuadrada, con espectacular tonos y adecuado DOF y el plus de la segunda imagen con la vision general de la flor.
Bien hecho... gracias por compartirla con nosotros.

Hi Kirsten... pretty double presentation with an excellent macro very good framing, spectacular tones and appropriate DOF and the extra of the second image with vision general of the flower.
Well done... thanks for sharing with us.

Very nice picture Kirsten - you are right, the colours are very beautiful. You are absolutely right about the ID - it is a nymph and a very young one too. The new hatched nymph is red with black spots. As it grows the colour change to green with black marks like yours, but the marks vanish when it grows older and just before it transforms to adult image it is green all over. I have some pictures of the different stages which I might post later.

This is a beautiful capture Kirsten. You should put a note out. If a guy gives you flowers, he must be sure that there are bugs in it for you to capture - This is if the guy gets past your Dad. You did an xecellent job here.

Thanks for posting

Kirsten, This has great impact! This excellent BG makes your bug stand out well & even though it's relatively small within the frame it seems big! Great note. Great job!!

Kirsten
Nice POV, Compo in the top, right third, good texture too. I have never seen a sunflower like this , it looks more like a daliah.

A good composition with this tiny insect on the flower, nice colours, nice seen, nice done !
