Hi Kirsten, this is a wasp...of the genus Ophion, it could be Ophion luteus but check. They belong to the Ichneumon family and they are parasitic, mostly of the larvae butterflies and moths.
If you can't find any info - I have some more.
I photographed one of these the other day too...It was a very dark day though and the photo wasn't any good.
Good capture Kirsten, well done.

Pretty capture Kirsten, although with the focus is a little soft.
Pleasant composition by its perspective and colorful.
Some loss of quality in the image is appraised... you must consider the compression from the file when save it not to degrade it of more.
In any case, the presentation is good in general.

paul has the type spot on worth going though google inages and seeing if you can spot a simular one. good capture as they never seem to stop moving especially the antenae which seem to wip back and forward continuously.
Nice new species for us to look at Kirsten. Well done. There are some BG noise in the shot. I did a WS using NeatImage. Hope you don't mind.

Very good work! I like the fact the the shape of the antennae are similar to the shapes on the wing.

Nice wasp, Kirsten. Also, the plant it is on is very interesting. What is it/ it looks like some kind of catus or succulent.
