About diet:
Anatomical differences between Common and Pygmy Chimpanzees are slight, but in sexual and social behaviour there are marked differences. Common Chimpanzees have an omnivorous diet, a troop hunting culture based on beta males led by a relatively weak alpha, and highly complex social relationships; Bonobos, on the other hand, have a mostly herbivorous diet and an egalitarian, matriarchal, sexually receptive behavior. The exposed skin of the face, hands and feet varies from pink to very dark in both species, but is generally lighter in younger individuals, darkening as maturity is reached. Bonobos have longer arms and tend to walk upright more often than the Common Chimpanzee.

I like this very intimate composition and the wonderful expression here..The eyes are clear and sharp, with this face full of nicely detailed character. And I enjoyed the note concerning the facial characteristics as well. I looked in the mirror briefly this morning..striking similarity :(

Hi Annick,

I enjoyed a visit to your gallery this morning. I often miss wildlife posts it seems as up until now I have poseted and critiqued mostly landscape shots. I find it so difficult to keep up on TN that I miss a lot of great images. I like the sharpmess and close crop of this image. I often refer it when the animal is not looking straight at the camera like this one. Nice work.
