The details and colors are superb, Annick.
I do so love the shag's green eyes.
Here it is complemented by that beautiful gold skin surrounding it.
Your exposure brings out all the values of the tans and blacks on this head.
Fascinating.
The angle of the head/beak is also very pleasing.
Beautifully blurred and colored BG.

Hi Annick

Well you sure proofed that an image stabiliser lens ‘IS’ working when hand held and shot at a slow 1/50 shutter speed. Add to this the fact that it was done with a 1.4 teleconverter at 280mm focal length. I don’t understand all the tech talk about the number of steps etc., but I read some of the threads in the forum about this subject and it seems to me you have successfully achieved something which some of the photographers claimed would not be possible.

Anyway, this is a great portrait of the shag. I like the tight crop of the close-up shot. The colours are fabulous, the details are as sharp as only an ‘IS’ lens can reproduce, the BG is marvellous – well OOF and complimentary of the subject, and the exposure was perfectly managed.

Indeed a fantastic example for the usage of the IS!
Fantastic work! I raelly like the focus here - spot on - and the impecable DOF - isolating the subject very well from the BG.
Also the colors and tones are simply lovely and the exposure is really great!
Very nice sharp and clean details and textures as well.

Excelente primer plano Annick con perfecta profundidad de campo que brinda no sólo un foco perfecto sino también un fondo idealmente difuso.
